Half an onion seeks your help to have more followers on Twitter than the US President Donald Trump.
It might sound ridiculous and useless. But the internet doesn’t want you to get bored. For that reason, the Twitter account titled Half An Onion has gone viral.
The account, which shows a picture of halved onion in a plastic bag, was launched on January 20, and has gained more than 600,000 followers since then. It’s one of the fastest growing Twitter accounts at the moment with only 15 tweets so far.

The campaign also launched a website where people can buy half onions to send directly to Trump. All you have to do is to pay $ 1,99 to buy a half onion. The campaign will send the piece to the President in a plastic bag on behalf of you. Many people seem liked the idea:

While it’s not yet clear who is behind the Half An Onion Twitter account, CNET managed to conduct an interview with the person.
“I don’t plan to remain anonymous forever,” the anonymous owner said to CNET, adding, “I wanted to make some noise and make some people laugh in the process because I think we’re gonna all need a good dose of humor to get through this (Trump’s presidency).”
It is to be noted that Trump has more than 22 million followers on Twitter, which is still far away from the Half An Onion account. However, if the Half An Onion can maintain this level of social media support, it could reach Trump’s Twitter follower count in close to 450 days, according to Mashable.
